GMC- Chevy Front-end conversion update
I finally recieved all my new parts from lMC and man are they nice. I finnaly got some pics of the frontend before I began any work on it. The previous owner shaved the emblems off the sides along with the front marker lights. Hope you guys dig-it, there isn't much good stuff on the front-end, the splash pan, bumper would be good for a pinted canidate and the grille support is all that is really good. Ordered all that new though.

Re: GMC- Chevy Front-end conversion update
I have worked on the suspension first and now I really want to improve on the looks of it. Once I finish the front-end, I am going to replace everything on the cab.

Re: GMC- Chevy Front-end conversion update
Yea, 2 1/2 spindles, 2 in drop coils and 1/2 round taken out of that. It sits 1 inch above the stock height bumpstops.

Re: GMC- Chevy Front-end conversion update
I also have to fix that firewall/heater mess. I am going to weld that up and install a full Vintage Air A/C. I also have a new sport bumper with the small round foglights.

Re: GMC- Chevy Front-end conversion update
Here it is, I have to remove the front bumper, it is just mocked into place and I have to figure out how to fix those chrome grille trim clips and put the new BowTie on. I hope everyone likes it, I will load in some more pics later.

Re: GMC- Chevy Front-end conversion update
It wasn't too aweful bad, I still havn't figured out how to slide those annoying spring studs into the two chrome grille peices for the center but besides that I really dug it. I had to do a little trimming on the inner fender on the passenger side and the gaps still need a little work but I was able to line up every hole and insert the bolts straight, guess that counts for something.

Re: GMC- Chevy Front-end conversion update
I'm sorry, I just have no love for the GMC quad headlights. I am a sinner. Every time I look at that truck I love it even more with the new front-end

Re: GMC- Chevy Front-end conversion update
Are you running regular headers or shorty headers? I already dropped my truck 2" with springs but now want to install the 2.5" drop spindles and I was wondering how much header clearance I would have. Let me know when you get a chance. I see you have 15" tires on the front, what size would they be?
Oh ya... it looks great!

Re: GMC- Chevy Front-end conversion update
I currently have a set of long tubes but I haven't driven it since I slammed it and I probably, make that i won't be able to until I change them. The flanges are about 1inch of the ground. Thanks I love the front-end. I am going to post the final results later this morning.
For everyone else, O.k, I don't have a GMC any more, I have a '68 Chevy with shaved marker lights, SORRY. |

Re: GMC- Chevy Front-end conversion update
Nah, the bumpers are everywhere. This truck makes about the 4th one I've seen one on. User 68GMCdually had one before I did.
You can get them from LMC, the truck shop, lots of our board venders, and there's even a seller on ebay with them. I got mine real cheap at the charlotte auto fair. I paid around 140 or 150? and no shipping, but from catalogs I've seen them from about 190 to 230 or so.

Re: GMC- Chevy Front-end conversion update
Yea, exactly. I hope to start on the cab, It is going to get new rockers (inner and outer), doors and cab corners. Finally I will replace the bed with a whole new set-up like I did the front. I will definitly use the LMC parts again.
