Re: ACE Ventura
I did that a few days ago in my blazer since I had so much mud covering the windshield the wipers didn't want to move any of it. It was fun untill I started spinning in some more mud and threw it up on the back on my head and some onto the inside of the winshield and dash. But thats how it goes.

Re: ACE Ventura
Yeah, ice caused it for me. But I avoided it a few times when the side windows were frozen shut.

Re: ACE Ventura
I grew up in the California Central Valley. The fog gets so bad that I've had to drive home with the door open looking for the yellow center line. Other than that ice on the windshield has always provided interesting drive habits.

Re: ACE Ventura
I've done it for every reason listed with the exception of the fog and mud runnin.
A little off topic, but close enough for an honorable mention, when I was in high school, I was goin to the tech school for 3/4 of the day, and when it was time to go back to the home school from thech, I would frequently drive from the passenger side, like the part time postal workers. I'd be in the front right, and 2 or 3 chicks in the back seat, and we'd all just ride as if it was all normal, nothing wrong. Funny as h*ll. Got pulled over for it once, but the cop was a good sport. (I was wearing my seatbelt, and that was what he was gonna nail me for) For the record, it wasn't one of these trucks, or a cool big car even. It was actually an 84 Plymouth Reliant... the 'ole square body K car. |

Re: ACE Ventura
in 2002, i was driving my Camaro through the mountains in utah (I-15 south of Salt lake), when we got hit by a blizzard, and the windhield wipers that were never used in 20 years (so cal car) decided they weren't going to work.
here i am, hanging out the window, because the windshield is covered with snow, navigating mountain curves, for about 20 miles until i got to Richfield (home of the worlds best onion rings ), so i could wait 3 days for a new electronic Cap thingy for the wiper motor. Not something i ever want to do again

Re: ACE Ventura
S-10 Blazer broke a heater core and had to drive it home in the middle of winter with the windows down and sometimes doing the Ace Ventura. Now, for driving backwards.... Quite a few years back, We were out on a friday night and my buddy wanted to go to the Taco Bell drive thru. I didn't want anything, so I went thru the drive thru backwards so he could order his own damn food. That got quite a few looks and a few " are you drunk?" questions.

Re: ACE Ventura
My brother had to drive my Dad's 71 C10 from Bryansville to Whiteford (approx 20miles) in reverse because he blew all the forward gears out of the transmission. My dad told him he broke it...he could get it home...
Then a few years later he got pulled over for 'cruising' in reverse around the local 'hangout' in his 69 Impala....cop asked him what he was doing...he said he wanted to see things in a new direction...

Re: ACE Ventura
If it rains in the summer and I'm in my corvette it will fog up and you can't see out the windshield so I have to stick my head out the window.. Humidity sucks sometimes
