Oil pan gasket thick or thin??
I’m looking for a one piece gasket on summit, they list’em as thick or thin front seal. Do you know what I need? How do I tell?

thats news to me, never seen that before. Could be listed that way instead of 1 or 2 piece rear seal?

Not sure personally,
it might help others viewing this thread if you post what you have for an engine. most important, Gen I or Gen II (LT based). If you know the MFG year of the motor that could be helpful too. Good luck

I checked summit, the 55-86 is called thick, the 1 piece frear seal is not called thin though, its just called 86-99

The way I under stand it there was a thin front and rear gasket from 55- 74 and 75 to 79 gasket the thick front and rear seals. Look up summits stock replacement oil pans in there catalog and it will tell you. 80 - 86 is a whole other animal, ie drivers side dip stick and 87 up is 1 piece rear main seal that also is a whole other animal oil pan gasket wise. It depends on the timing cover you are using. The older style was the thin (I'm not at the shop to mesure exact but) close too 1/4 inch thick is closer toa heavy 3/8's little less than 1/2 if memory serves me right. TTT for some one that cam mesure for sure.
