C10 to C20

Hello to all. I was trying to find out can you change a C10 to a C20. I have a 68 C10 2wd suburban and have trying to get a C10 truck 2wd or a K5 blazer on sure if 2wd or 4wd. If I get the truck I need it to pull the suburban and if the blazer need the suburban to pull the blazer.

Thanks for your time and help
Lou

Re: C10 to C20

If it is coils all the way around here is how you do it. This is the stock bolt in way.

1. Coil spring rear axle your choice of dana60 or ho52.
2. 3/4 ton panhard bar for the axle
3. 3/4 ton springs.
4. up front 3/4 ton springs
5. 71-87 3/4 ton lower a arm
6. 3/4 ton upper and lower ball joints
7. 3/4 ton 71-72 inner and outter tie rod ends
8. 71-87 3/4 ton spindales rotors and such.
9. 71-72 3/4 ton master cylinder and power brake booster with brackets.
10. 71-72 front 3/4 ton brake lines.

I think I listed everything. Mount the upper ball joints in the stock 1/2 ton upper a arms, as the 3/4 ton a arms wont work do to the size of there pivot shaft but the 3/4 ton ball joints mount fine in the stock 1/2 ton a arm.
Hope this helps.

What do you have to do to convert a 69 3/4 ton to disc brakes? Can you use the 71-72 spindles with the 69 a-arms wiht the 71-71 inner and outer tie rod ends?

Re: C10 to C20

You will need items 6- 71-72 ball joints, 8- 71-87 spindles, half of 9- you will need a 71-72 master cylinder, 10- 71-72 brake lines and hoses. Yes the spindles will work with your a arms. But you will need a 71-72 center link to use the 71-72 tie rods, your tie rods wont work with the disc spindles. They make an adapter for the 1/2 ton tie rods to use a combo of the 67-70 and 71-72 tie rod ends that might work for you but am not sure. There was a few people that talked about this adapter but dont rember who it was or who makes it. Me I would just find the 71-72 center link off of either 1/2 or 3/4 ton truck. Hope this helps.
