Holley carb Question
I bought a Holley carb from ebay, and it was supposed to be a model #4175. It is a spread bore with vacuum secondaries, but it does not have a electric choke, which every other one of them I have seen (including old ones )has.
I will try to post a pic of the one I bought, and the one on the Holley web site. My question is, is the one I bought a manual choke, or is there something missing. The one that I bought: The pic from the holley website:

I really don't have a way to take a pic of it right now, the one I posted is just the one from ebay, if you can tell me what to look for I can do that too. Here is a pic of a 4160 that shows the choke from a different angle

This is a pic of a 4160 with a manual choke, but this doesn't look like what I have either. I looked at it again, and I don't think it even has a place to attach the electric choke, but I am not sure.

I would say that the choke for your carb was probably a divorced choke in it's previous setup. It consist of a plate with a bimetallic coil that is attached to the intake manifold above the heat crossover and the end of the coil is attached to an operating rod which automatically takes the choke off when the engine heats up. This is my favorite type of choke setup. As long as you don't mind having the heat crossover unblocked.

I would say that ddsmith hit it right. That is a q-jet replacement carb, and most older applacations are divorced choke.

I agree, its probably a divorced choke set up. It is a 4175(spread bore/vac 2nds/no metering block on secondaries). If you post the stamped numbers on the air horn,I have a couple books.....may be able to give you the specs on it........69

Are any of these what you need? That is all of the stamped numbers Icould find. If it is a divorced choke, could I just get a Holley electric choke conversion kit?

I have another question about the same carb. I have A/C and a automatic transmission and I can't tell if the carb will clear the vacuum fitting in the manifold. I will probably either use a Edelbrock Performer, or a Weiand Action Plus manifold, and I need to know if I will have to ues a spacer?

hey larry, there should be a 4 digit number right inside the air horn where the air goes inside the carb..it will be on the driverside of the carb facing up toward the hood...that number should be able to get you the info you need i think...jv

I couldnt find much info on the choke setup,if it is a divorced set up,the elc choke wont bolt on. My book says....0-7855,direct replacement for all carter thermo quad carbs on 75-76 440(A-134)performance option engines. Vacumn secondaries, single pump, spreadbore 650 cfm, emissions carb. You might give Holley site a look,or call for info on the choke. http://www.holley.com/
