Question i wonder if it will ever be finished

This saga started back in October 2004, called a truck restoration project.
Currenty I have a restored rolling chassis with a cab sitting on it.
I was looking at it today and just became overwhelmed with the amount of work yet to be done. I have not been able to do much lately due to cold weather. The truck will be completed, no doubt, it is just a very long journey.

Anyone else in this boat?

Re: i wonder if it will ever be finished

Just keep chipping away at it. Mine was on jackstands for way longer than I thought it would be (like a year) and I was just doing engine and 5-lug conversion. Then it was out of comission again for 2 months recently while I converted it to TBI and I still have bugs to work out. The only way I can get stuff done without that 'too much to do' feeling is to make little sub-projects out of the big ones.
You can get it done! Just keep thinking of the end result.

In the same position? Yea totally!

At least you have your cab mounted, mine is still sitting on the cab dolly. My frame is done, motor and trans mounted, but tons of work to do; plumb pump and tank, build exhaust, build fuel filler setup, then start the real assembly.

I just keep a short to do list with 4 or 5 items on it at most and pick away at it. The toughest part I think is when you have the motivation and time but not the coin for the new parts you need to continue building.

http://community.webshots.com/user/hotrodhorn drove this old gal home , Dec of 1984......some say that life is what happens, when you are buzy makin other plans! After 22 yrs of playin/raising kids/repairin cars/houses/ect, the old truck dont have paint(oh well), I had fun watchin all the break dancin, boxin matches, & general BS that 2 good boys could show me growin up. Played Mr Mom for several yrs......it was enough to make me really crazy, but im sure that my boys wont end up in prison . Best I can say is Keep on Truckin.....sometimes I cuss about it, but still 'TRUCKIN'...& no doubt will be till I caint no mo........ L

Re: i wonder if it will ever be finished

I definitely feel your pain. Mine was driven into the shop 5 years ago for rockers and cab corners. The only thing that is still on the truck that was there when it went in the shop is the frame rails, engine and tranny. Everything has been changed. Slowly but surely.

I laid off working on it for close to a year and a half but have recently started thrashing on it again. I worked most all day today putting the FatMat sound insulation in. Next up is the wiring.

Hang in there ... I know how ya feel. I just want to drive mine now, to heck with the paint.

Re: i wonder if it will ever be finished

I think my main problem is that I cannot drive my truck, I knew this would be my main problem before I started on it.

Re: i wonder if it will ever be finished

I bought mine in 2000. I have done a complete frame off build up, it has never run and just now is getting primer. I too, felt the way you do and decided to bite the bullet and signed up for a "GET IT DONE NOW AND PAY FOR IT LATER" Plan.
