What was the basic difference in the C-10 and the Cheyenne 10? Was the Cheyenne 10 always a long wheel base? Did it normally have a bigger engine of was it a fully loaded truck?

In`71 when the Cheyenne came out,the base model was a Custom/10 with C/10 becoming a series designate,only,and not a model or trim level.Before`71 it was the CST/10 with C/10 being the base trim.
Cheyennes came in all truck series 10-30 in all wheelbases.The top Suburban was a CustomDeluxe and the top Blazer was a CST.
The engine was not part of the package.A Cheyenne could have any motor/trans available in these trucks.You could have a 6cyl/3spd Cheyenne.You could have a 402/TH400 Custom.
The Cheyenne was not fully loaded.The fanciest interior and exterior trim options were included and woodgrain accents,available only on a Cheyenne.Tilt,a/c,am/fm,bucket seats,tach,etc. were all options not included.That`s a general outline.

Options was what made them differant. Cheyenne's come in long and short beds, differant size motors and transmissions. The package was usually interior upgrades and exterior trim. I'm sure someone else will join in with more info.

I bought my uncles truck from his daughter and have only seen pics so far and so far do not know the engine, or other items. She is her late 60s and her Dad bought it new. It's been sitting by the barn for 8 years. As we all get, I am getting excited about a new toy but won't get a chance to go after it until March. Thanks again for the info.

FYI,most Cheyennes did tend to have more options than other models.I just thought I`d add that after saying how plain one could be.Few were.

Thanks. THis one looks pretty fancy from the pics. Yellow and white with body molding. I'm really interested in knowing the engine size in it and other things...........which is something she has no clue about. All she knew is that it was parked because the rearend went bad and it has rust in the floor.
