Project: BAD 4x4 - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Okay guys, you've always wondered where the name BAD 4x4 came from, well this is the project that inspired it all.

I have been working on this frame off restoration for over 5 years and with a little motivation and a huge kick in the ass from the wife(she was tired of the wood bed and seat sitting in the spare room), it is finally almost done.

You've seen a few progress pics in the pass and several of you have seen the real thing sitting half done in the shop, so here she is minus some door panels and a steering wheel...

Hope this inspires you guys!!!

very very nice! did you put fluids in it yet? im asking because ive got the same upper rad hose and that rubber piece that slides over the thermostat housing was leaking antifreeze a bit, basically the hose didnt fit tight over the housing, what i ended up doing was do a couple wraps around the cast with teflon tape and then put the rubber over it and it worked, but what a pain in the ass.

man do i love that truck though, just awesome

Yep, fired her up and the only leak was at the oil guage...fixed it!!!

Very sharp truck...the more I see that light olive green...the more I like it.

I am glad mine is that color...sort of...bringing it back.

Bob, the first show it is going to is the Rod and Custom show in Redmond. I'm takeing the exhaust system down to get ceramic coated monday. The wheels are chrome 15x10 corvette ralleys with flat caps and the front have a little custom in them to fit over the hubs. The gate is one I got from Frank, like 4 years ago. Sorry I sold the one I got from you awhile to seal another deal. Thanx Everyone for the great compliments!!!!!!!!! I'm so gladdddd it is alomost done!! The color is the stock 1970 green and white. We had the paint shop in town do the computer thing on it, to get the color as close as stock as you could get.

very nice. i really like the radiaor shroul painted like that. now thank the wife for the kick man.make sure you clean off the mantle b4 u go to the show, cause your for sure bring home a throphy congrats on that sweet truck
