Question New Guy with Question?

Hello All,

I just got a new project.. 1970 CST/10 short fleetside bed with a 396 big block...

My question is about parts? I need a lot of little things like taillight lens, heater hoses, wood bed kit, switches, sending unit brass float, etc...??

Where is a good place to buy parts at a reasonable price and a place that I can trust and get me my parts quick..

I am in Westminster, SC.. Any places close to me?

What about ebay?

thanks in advance..

Re: New Guy with Question?

there are member vendors on this site with good parts. Pauls and Brothers to name a few are awesome.

Try Tim Christian, he's in your general area and hits all the shows. He's also a good guy to shoot the breeze with. For a list of board supporting vendors try here.

Thumbs up Re: New Guy with Question?

Thanks for the vendor list... That helps a ton.. I was already checking out GMC Pauls but now I see the Dixie trucks is in NC.. Anybody try them out? Where is Tim Christian located?

Thanks for all the help guys.. I will support the board vendors that help keep this great site alive..

I'm getting ready to start ordering some small parts right now..

But in the near future I will be ordering a complete wood bed kit and maybe some sheetmetal parts for the bed..

My truck is in decent shape though..

Thanks again and keep the help coming..

James..

Yep, the autofair.. I have been in the past but it has been awhile... Was looking for somebody pretty close... Maybe drive up and get my parts.. Year One is close but their prices are very high compared to others..

Right Now it looks like Dixie Truck Works is pretty close to me up in Mt. Pleasant NC... Depending on which Mt. Pleasant it is.. Mapquest shows a bunch of different counties.. anywhere from 3 to 9 hours...

Price is a big factor also.. I'm not building a show queen or anything.. I just like my parts to work..

Thanks for all the help guys..

Nice looking truck!

And in response to your earlier question, Tim Christian is based out of Rogersville, TN. As Krue mention great person to deal with. So is GMC Paul, Wes (Classic Heartbeat). I can't go by names on the rest but I have also had super dealings with ChevyDuty (forgot their new name) and Brothers Trucks.

Re: New Guy with Question?

Thanks..

Well, Right now it looks like Dixie Truck Works or Christians parts... They are both close but Dixie's pricing seems a little cheaper.. Wonder if Tim price matches.. He has a show coming up in Cherokee that I would like to go to.. It is pretty close to me.. And I figure next day shipping should be no problem with both them being so close to me..

Thanks for all the help guys.. I'm glad I asked before jumping into the buying game.. I figure I will be spending a pretty good bit of money on this project and wanted some advice.. Looks like I will be placing an order this week or next.. And even going to some shows and buying parts from the vendors on this site..
