Re: serpentine belt system
Should be a brown wire, correct?
You'll want to make sure that you only hook up to a wire from your system that ONLY supplies power when the key is in the run position. Have you done the one wire alt conversion yet? If not, check out the FAQ section, there's a great thread about it. |

Re: serpentine belt system
I'll be watching this as I need to do mine also. I have the factor GM alternator (probably like you) not the one-wire type. I know there is two wires and that there is a resistor needed for the hookup, but I don't remember the detailes when I looked it up a while back.
As far as the hose, I am told if you use the inline six hose backwards it works pretty well and clears things. Like VT said a 90-95 hose should work too.

Re: serpentine belt system
My alt had three wires (90 version) but only the brown is needed.
The other two are not needed for our application. |

Re: serpentine belt system
You should have three wires that went to your old alt.
Red - thick gauge wire that goes to the post on the back of the alt. Yellow - will have constant 12v power - do not use. Blue - has key power, hook this one to the brown of your newer style alt. After you do the one wire alt conversion I spoke of in my first post. |

The regulator is on the inside of the rad support on the drivers side, under the headlight assembly. Yes, your Batt./charge gauge should work, mines does in this same configuration. |

Check out the FAQ section, the thread is in there on how to do it. Good thread, easy to do. Your going to need to find out where the harness is hacked or missing and go from there. Palf... I'm with ya now. I believe it's in the 4x4 position, sits back pretty far. When I was running the older HEI, coil in the cap it was touching the firewall for the most part. |

Re: serpentine belt system
Bypassing the VR is only for an internally regulated alt. Not the original external regulated alt. Correct?
