Is it Interchangeable?
Found an '84 1 ton with a 454, 4 speed, Dana 60 front and 14bff rear for $500. The mechanicals are in great shape, but the body is shot, and it had a flatbed that we don't want. My question is this: since this truck has a/c, cruise, and tilt, would most of the dash just bolt into my '79? It is in good shape, and the air still worked. I know I will have to pull other parts from under the hood for the air to work, and was hoping that it would all just bolt in. Anyone done this before?

Re: Is it Interchangeable?
Are we talking A/C vs A/C or A/C vs heater? If it is the later, it won't "bolt" in. You will need to make a template off the donor and cover the holes from the heater box and make new ones where the template goes.
Everything else will bolt in though short of some wiring changes.

Re: Is it Interchangeable?
My 79 is a non a/c truck, so you are saying that I will have to do some slight cutting? I have no problem with that. I just wanted to make sure it was doable before I tore my dash apart. Plus wiring doesn't scare me either. Thanks!

Re: Is it Interchangeable?
You need to pull everything off the A/C donor and make a template of the firewall. I had one that I could send out to people that wanted to do this, but I will never find it in all the construction I am doing...
You then need to strip the non-A/C down and pretty much cover up all the holes (template will help out here), once covered, cut the new holes out and then you can bolt it in.
