edelbrock air cleaner

well, i bought a chrome edelbrock air cleaner, but that sucker doesnt sit down on top of my qjet. i was reading that edelbrock makes a 8089 adapter for manual control chokes, but when i look at it, it doesnt look anything like what would help me out.

anyone ever mounted one of these, or had to use some sort of adapter to get your air cleaner on ?

Re: edelbrock air cleaner

I used the factory air cleaner spacer when I had one on my orange and white. Worked just fine that way. Oh I dont know how the chrome is now but the one I bought in 99 started rusting right after I bought it. I took it off and gave it away a couple years later. May want to put some sort of protectant on it. Another thing if you dont have the factory spacer just go get one off of a vehicle at the junk yard. Good luck.

Re: edelbrock air cleaner

I have em on both my trucks but dont have a Q jet on either.
Fits fine over a Holley, and a Edelbrock (Carter)
And yes the chrome is not the greatest.

Re: edelbrock air cleaner

A good coat of wax applied regularly will go a long way to keeping that nice shiney chrome goodness...

Can you post any pics of the interference? Maybe you need a spacer between the carb and base? Edelbrock #8092 (3/4"tk), or #8093 (1/2"tk). Of course I'm sure a generic one would be cheaper, and available from your local parts store.
