Frame questions

Howdy guys,
I've got an odd question. Can a '74 C20 cab fit on a '84 C10 frame? Also is their any difference between the beds on the 73-80 vs. the 81-87?

Re: Frame questions

The 74 cab will fit the 84 frame if you use 81-87 cab mounts.

The earlier beds have exposed filler necks and later beds have filler doors. The change was made in 78 or 79.

The older truck also have smaller diameter filler necks, I don't know if that change happened with the filler doors or not.

The earlier stepsides have marker lights in the fenders, the newer ones do not. That change was also made around 78 or 79.

There is also a change in the fleetside tailgate latch that happened around 76.

Someone will no doubt chime in with the exct years for the changes.

You can pretty much bolt any combination of pickup 73-87 pickup bodies to any frame with some amount of tweaking.
