Gen 3 6.0 Conversion
Im getting ready to start converting my 70 Suburban to a 6.0 Gen 3. Looking for suggestions on motor mounts, headers, stand alone wire harness, pictures from anybody that has done this already.
Thanks |

www.pacificfab.net mods harnesses and ecms. Phone number is on the site and Kevin is very knowledgable about the swaps.

Re: Gen 3 6.0 Conversion
I have ECE motor mounts. My 5.3 sits nice with the ECE mounts. I do not have the wiring yet but I am planning on getting it from Speartech.

Re: Gen 3 6.0 Conversion
See signature. 12-13 pages of writeup on a '01 LS1 5.7L, lots of items probably apply to yours.
Search feature is your friend. Good search term: GenIII ls1tech.com is full of people with hybrid trucks like mine, like what yours plans to be.

Re: Gen 3 6.0 Conversion
Stop searching "Gen III" and start searching "GenIII". That space between "Gen" and "III" is the difference between 'no results' and 'lots of results'. The forum search feature ignores 3-letter search terms, so if you break it into two three-letter search terms, you're screwing yourself.
I just want to be clear here, I used a 5.7, not a 5.3 or 6.0, if you check my last post it's listed as a 5.7 as well . I wanted a T56 tranny, I did not want an auto tranny (although the install would have been HELLACIOUSLY easier), and wanted to buy a engine/tranny combo that was already mated together from the factory, so ... since I've never seen a 6spd truck, what I got is what I ended up with! The performance numbers for the WS6/LS1 drivetrain I bought were more what I was looking for, versus the truck engines. The 6.0 has better buildup potential for big HP, but that's not what I'm going for, so .... LS1 out of a TransAm WS6 it was ...

Re: Gen 3 6.0 Conversion
Does anyone make motor mounts for the 6.0L into 4x4 trucks? Looks like ECE only has them for 2wd

Re: Gen 3 6.0 Conversion
I can tell you from experience that the ones from ECE won't work on a 4x4. I used the ones from S&P and they worked fine.

Re: Gen 3 6.0 Conversion
Those are the ones that I used and I was able to get the A/C compressor in although I haven't tried hooking it up yet. I've seen some pics of fitting that looks like it should work. I'll let you know when summer gets a little closer.
