Leg Room
I'm getting ready to redo the interior of my '72 C-10 and was wondering if there is any way to gain leg room, without major cab modifications?

An early 90's chevy seat seems to give more leg room, I think the backrest is thinner

Ditch the tank and get a skinny seat. Also try some of the column mods and a smaller wheel.

I think re-locating the tank to the back of the frame and using later bucket seats would gain you some. Board member Putter posted a thread about lowering the steering wheel closer to the dash. Great info, just what I was looking for. I now have todays "to-do" list. Last week I installed a 13 1/2 inch Grant steering wheel. I need to replace the seat because it is beyond repair. Thanks for the help, this is much easier, having experienced people sharing their knowledge.

p.o.w. AS locdoc mentioned moving the steering column closer does make the cab seem bigger, I am 6'5" and it has helped a lot the next is getting the skinny seat and a smaller diameter steering wheel.

My tank is still in the cab and my steering wheel is original, but I picked up a 60/40 bench out of a 90's Silverado and I seem to have a lot more room. I'm 6'4" and the wheel is a little tight getting in and out, but the driving position is great.

I put 40/20/40 seats from an 98 Silverado into my truck and although I removed the tank, the tank could have stayed in and made no difference. BTW, these seats are a bit bigger and you loose some legs space.
