Newer steering column swap?

so in my panel, i had an 87 firebird tilt wheel and column in it, but it took a bit of work to make fit and work correctly. i remember seeing somewhere that people use like full size van columns or something, and i was curious if anyone has any info on that. thanks in advance guys.

Chevy vans up to 1980 I believe.. It still takes some work to get them.. Just not as much... I just put an 88 suburban column in my truck.. It will have the highbeam switch and wiper switch in the column as well.. I will be using the harness also.. If I can get the wiper motor to work the delayed wipers will be in effect also...

and how hard was that to mount up, such as mounting it to the underside of the dash? any pics? i liked the firebird column because it was short and small wheel(needed when i have a 12" windshield like on the panel) but the truck isnt getting chopped.

I picked up an '83 Suburban that came from Wisconsin and was pretty much a rust bucket. This is the source of all the parts I used to add power steering and a new tilt steering column. The whole this was incredibly easy as you will see.

Pretty much How Pershes page.. Only thing is I have short arms.. hehe.. Also I had to cut the mounting bracket to accept the high beam switch which is mounted to the column... I will be using the ignition on the column also.. I put the wheel at a comfortable distance for me.. Now I just need to finish it off.. I am now in the process of mounting up the 68 power brake booster I got at the yard the other day...
