Re: wont start.

You can pull the plug on the safety switch and put a jumper wire in it to confirm your suspicion. Should be purple/yellow

Re: wont start.

You have the wires on the starter backwards. The purple needs to be on the inside. Also if you are running an hei you need to run a hot wire to it from the ignition terminal from the fuse block. If you don't you won't get a full 12 Volts to the coil.

Wrong post, should be the one closest to the engine. Also there is an "S" next to it.

Re: wont start.

okay i fixed the worng wires. also i have the white wire and a yellow wire from the oe style harness i got from brothers going to the dizzy pos side(hei) is thi right or do i need a wire from the fuse block? this is how it ran for a good 7-8 months before i took it apart for paint. i did sort of a mock up build make sure everything was there running well and proper. now on reassembly im gettn more hang ups then before...errr. thanx guys. also the black box on the fire wall. this is the external voltage reg. rite? would having the wires crossed like i did burn this up? its pretty new and shoudnt be bad. let me know. thanx.

Re: wont start.

you need a full 12 volts powering the hei.
the stock resistor wire does not supply this.
a new wire ran from the fuse box on a switched circuit would work best.
external voltage regulators are cheap. if in doubt change it.
i am not sure how to test it ?
