Booster Rod Question

Ok I scored a 3/4 ton booster and master cylinder on ebay and the guy didn't put the plunger rod in the box. Now he can't find it. It's the one that goes between the booster and the MC. I don't believe the one from my 1/2 ton set-up will work so where can I get one? TIA......

Re: Booster Rod Question

How long do you think it needs to be? I have a rod in a Power break unit that wont fit my truck. Do you know how to measure what you need? I can look at mine with the MC off and tell you how to do measure it.
LMK
If it’s special I can probably make you tomorrow.
But I think the half ton will work. JMO.

I'm not sure how to measure it. I think I read somewhere here that the 1/2 ton is longer. Maybe things will be a bit clearer tomorrow but right now I'm kinda stumped

Re: Booster Rod Question

I took some pictures and measurements, the rod length is 2.5 x .365 with it in the hole (it’s in the wrong way, but didn’t change the measurement) is was .250 below the surface.
I don’t know what year Chevy this was off of but it’s newer than ours.
See what you get and that should tell us what you need.
If you need a shorter one I can put mine in a lathe and turn it down for you.

Re: Booster Rod Question

the problem is, it needs to be adjustable, to make up for all the variables on the master cylinder makers. I've had to adjust that rod both times I had replaced a master cylinder on on of these boosters.
The one I have here, has a mushroomed head theat measures exactly one inch across, with a perfectly flat surface. This end goes into the booster.
Totally extended, I got 6 3/8 inches, and totally screwed in, right at 5 3/8 inches.

Re: Booster Rod Question

Board member Mac measured one for me and said it's 2.486" long and .365" in diameter. The M/C end is radiused to .100" of the length but has a .125" flat in the center. Not really sure how to measure what I need when they are connected

Re: Booster Rod Question

Sounds like your 1/2 ton can be made to work pretty easily.

Re: Booster Rod Question

While we are on the booster subject. I have a 72 CK10, and was wondering if the dual diaphram booster from a 20 will work with all the 10 harware.(mounting brackets, push rod, mastercyl, etc.) Can I buy a new booster for a 20, and bolt it up to the 10. It has a new mastercylinder on it now.

Thanks, Jimi
