Anyone ever heard of a movie called "gringo"?

In '81 I bought a black '71 blazer from a place in L.A. that specialized in used 4X4's and the guy said that it was in a movie called "gringo" or "gringos". I never saw the movie, but the truck was thrashed. Still, I put gas in it and drove out to Utah and lived up at Alta (9,000 ft) where it got buried several times by snowstorms but always started. It was really fun to go to the parking lot late at night after a foot of snow and do four-wheel drifts until the sheriff came. I would drive it down to Snowbird in the evening sometimes to have a "nip" or two, and then end up coming back with 15 people packed in it, even people holding on to the bumpers and skidding back the 3 miles or so to Alta (the roads were snow packed.) I loved that blazer. Has anyone heard of the movie?

"Gringo" sounds familiar.I`m no movie buff, not much with names.
But,thanks for reminding me how fun life was back then in the mountain states. We ruled the world back in those days!

Maybe the truck was called Gringo. The guy that I bought it from (a shifty dealer) said it had been jumped a couple of times. Anyways, the name stuck. I traded it in on a brand new 1983 Nissan longbed - better mileage, but no character.

I was gonna say,"could be a car lot fable." But,then again,he was honest enough to volunteer it was jumped.Or,was that obvious and this was his way of getting you to accept a kinked Blazer and feel good about it?

Well. it took a while but I found the movie and grabbed some crappy screen shots. Better late than never. There is a blazer in it in but I didnt watch the whole thing yet to see anything other than highway driving.

Re: Anyone ever heard of a movie called "gringo"?

Forgot to mention: In the second picture it looks like their Blazer has turned into a Dodge Maybe the Chevy was damaged and the Dodge was used for the rest of the movie, which wasent for many more scenes.
