Side molding

I removed the side molding from "Fudge" and it has the sticky double back tape from 1977. Ya'll know of something that might help in the removal of this tape without totally mucking up the paint?

I'm trying to go with a cleaner look and am not ready to sand off the tape residue. The rest of the truck's paint is too nice to totally repaint. I've tried some stuff but so far, this tape is hard core.

3 M makes an adhesive remover that works well, also try a heat gun and a plastic scraper

How nice was your trim ? Was it long or short bed ? Would you sell the trim ?

I think there is a tool that the body shops use called a crud thug or something that is basically an eraser on a high speed drill that removes it without harming paint . You might just ask what they would charge . Frank

Trim was good -- not certain if I'm keeping it off or not just yet. It's a short bed. Might consider selling it or trading for something....

Try WD-40 to start with. If the paint is original you can use thiiner or reducer. If it's been repainted I would go easy on the hotter chemicals. Test a hidden spot first.

Beyond that, Frank has the answer. Use an eraser wheel.

Thought about WD-40 but it's been so freakin cold the past few days, I don't want to venture out to the garage. If the 40 doesn't work, I guess I'll have to buy a heat gun.

blow dryer and wd40 with plastic spatchula. just a thought

WD40 and spatchula did it. Didn't need the heat. Have a bit more rubbing but the vast majority is already gone. Thanks everyone for the info.
