4x4 vin #

I have come across some 4x4's with a vin# starting with cc instead of ck. How is this possible and will it be a problem titling the truck in any states

Re: 4x4 vin #

either a bogus VIN plate... or, the truck used to be a 2 wheel drive truck and has been modified, or, the cab was replaced, and the guy doing the work opted to keep the VIN on the cab.

Technicly, the frame and cab VINs are supposed to match. However, many states don't care, and say either one or the other. I would call the DMV with that question after verifying the frame VIN in fact does not match. (It could be the right VIN for the cab and a modified frame instead of swapped frame) Tell them everything about it being totally honest, and if they tell you to go for it, get there complete name and what branch that person works at, and go on with the transaction.

Re: 4x4 vin #

Neither of mine have CK.My 2 both just start with K...... As I decoded them they are 4x4s as "K" means 4wd series. Was there different VINs?
Start of VIN on 69:KE149J
Start of VIN on 71 :KS107....
No "C" anywhere, meaning mine are matchhing 4x4 VIN #."C" indicates a 2wd so Longhorn Man is likely correct on a cab swap

Re: 4x4 vin #

when i converted my 70 from2 to 4 wd i left the 2 wd vin on it. it was cheaper for me to register it that way.never plan to sell it so it should nt be an issue.

Re: 4x4 vin #

I might see the old girl today and if I do I will get pictures. Pretty sure the vin is written in black grease pencil on the firewall as well.

Yeah, some PO repainted over everything on the truck, and the lighting in the picture sucks making it worse. It is really a "B".
