Re: Anybody not have the e brake on their truck?
i removed it from 1 side to clean up the underside of the truck. tucked it all inside the driverside framrail, allways a good idea to have it working. plus no hasstle trying to pass inspection.

Re: Anybody not have the e brake on their truck?
My truck didn't have one when I got it but I'm slowly acquiring the parts to put it back on. I have an auto trans so I don't REALLY need it but I want the truck to have it if I want to use it.

Re: Anybody not have the e brake on their truck?
I removed it from my 67 back in '97 because the PO cut, it in several places I will be adding it again, but where I live I don't feel it's necessary, parking lots are flat. LMC has every piece you could reed, so I'm sure other vendors have them too.

In Minnesota they quit working when they are a couple years old because of the salt on the roads.

Re: Anybody not have the e brake on their truck?
2 of my trucks have working e-brakes, my burb doesn't. It really sucks trying to load my burb on my trailer, though, since it wants to just roll off. We don't have inspections in cali!

Re: Anybody not have the e brake on their truck?
I found every part for my HO52.Try Napa.If you truck is manual, you`ll miss it bigtime.My`92 sat at the diesel shop so long, when they went to move it into the shop it was froze-up.Dipterds don`t know you can`t left a parking brake set for long term.I told them to cut the cable since I didn`t want to put money into brakes on a rear I`ll be replacing soon. It`s a p.i.a. without it.I have to chock the wheels to start it,warm it up,back it up,turn off, remove the chock, then restart.Backing to my trailer is a bear.I can`t wait to get it back.

Re: Anybody not have the e brake on their truck?
My truck( The 71 4x4) has(well, will have shortly) a Turbo 350.I think I might eventually replace the e brake, for the time being I am going to leave the e brake off though.

Re: Anybody not have the e brake on their truck?
If you don't "set" the ebrake for long periods of time, (overnight and such) would there be a problem using something like this instead of a normal setup?

Quote:
the reason for an emergancy brake system is if the hydraulic system fails to rely on the hydraulic system in case of hydraulic system failure isn't a good idea

Re: Anybody not have the e brake on their truck?
A hydraulic system will always bleed down... that's not a good idea for a real parking brake.

Re: Anybody not have the e brake on their truck?
It is always a good idea to have a backup. If you saw my earlier post from today about my MC you will understand why. I am just lucky I found the problem in the driveway instead of on the road.

Re: Anybody not have the e brake on their truck?
My brake went out in my`72 GMC when I was down in Baltimore.Sure was nice being able to drive it home and park it by using the hand brake.
I guess you could drive a truck with no e-brake,horn,blinkers,high-beam,just the driver`s wiper,no dome light,1/2 the bolts in your bumper...see where I`m going?
