Will this work?

I have a 1969 Chevy C10, 350. The Power Steering pump is going out on it and I know I need to replace it. I know the pumps aren't that expensive, but I ran across an ad on Craigslist. The guys giving away a power steering pump that he had on a 1966 C10. Just wondering if anyone out there has any idea's on how to determine if it would fit or not.

His description reads:
Came off a SBC 305. No leaks and works gret. Had it on my 66' Chevy C10 before I sold it.

Any idea's?

It's not the end of the world if it doesn't fit, just thought I'd see what y'all thought.

Thanks

Re: Will this work?

most of the saginaw pumps were the same. being that the 305 wasnt even made in 1966 im asuming the ps pump is from whatever vehicle the engine came out of. you might have to swap the pulley and possible the pressure valve in the back to get the correct threads but it should work.

Be carefull of you get what you pay for. If he is giving it away, there is probably a reason and you will end up replacing it a second time. Save yourself the hassel and go get a new one. THey are not that expensive at the parts places.

Re: Will this work?

back in the 60's GMC made a big block V-6 305 so it might be a chance its off of one of those engines, i doubt they will work on a Chevy v-8 because the v-6's had a 60 degree bores not the 90 as we know of small blocks and big blocks. good luck though

Re: Will this work?

Based on the feedback, I'm leaning towards passing on it and just getting a new one. Less hassle and aggrevation...and you're right, they aren't that expensive. Thanks for the feedback.
