454 into 63 fleetside

hi there,i have just bought a 454 to swap into my 63 pickup, will it fit without many problems.I know it will hook up to the trans ok but the smallblock looks to be close to the firewall so i think the bigblock may have to move forward a couple of inches. would like to hear from anyone who has done this swap, cheers

Re: 454 into 63 fleetside

I was just thinking about this this morning. Seems that the 67-72 era BBC towers should work as the x-member is basically the same. I have read that guys move them forward of the sbc towers. I'd like to hear/see what's been done (for my brothers 64).

Mine is using small block towers in the stock location. Had to notch the passenger side tower for header clearance though.

When I bought my truck it had no motor in it so I had to make the mounts up, but I'm now running a 454. It will fit there's plenty of room. Will post pics if ya want. I saw your truck for sale, was it for 16.5 k?. Just about makes you weep when you see what they're going for in the U.S don't it lol.
