Re: Looking for S TX help

I can help you but am a little limited on time if you do most of the prep work I can weld in the patches for you and bodywork the area and then you take it somewhere for paint.

Re: Looking for S TX help

Post some pics of your door and cab corners that you need repaired. I can then tell you what you need to buy to repair the areas.

Re: Looking for S TX help

Okay, in my opinion you are better off buying a couple of doors, two rockers and two cab corners. The bed is going to have to come off to do the cab corners and the front fenders need to come off to do the rocker panels. This is going to snowball on you if you let it. Have you looked at the floors and kick panels yet? You may break some bolts taking the bed loose so you may have to get a mounting kit so when you go back together it will be done right. Mikes Bump and Grind Garage is a site vendor on here and has the best prices available locally so you do not have to pay shipping. www.bumpandgrindgarage.com Do you have a compressor at you home to run air tools?

Re: Looking for S TX help

What you may assume to be a little bit of rust on the outside of the truck is multiplied as you removed the outer panels. Take off your door sill plates and pull the carpet back and look at the condition of the floor, look underneath of the cab to look at the cab floor supports. Once you take the front fenders off you may notice that the bottom of the front "A" pillars are rusted.

Re: Looking for S TX help

Yes, now you know what I mean by snowballing on you. The good thing is if you have any mechanical inclination at all you can do some of the grunt work that costs a lot of money to be done in a bodyshop. The other side is that most bodyshops will not even tackle these jobs anymore because they are not as profitable as collision repair. Restoration shops charge up to 65.00 dollars and hour. That includes to unbolt, cut and grind that you can do at home to save yourself some money.

Re: Looking for S TX help

i may have to hold off on this then because i thought it would be something simple easy and cheap to do and i was almost to a point where i almost had to think about selling the truck because of low funds :-\
