Haven't really done anything this week except paint the engine. I have been too busy at work to trip the items that need trimming. I still need to pull the tranny and come up with seals and filter and crap like that for it, along with a tranny mount. (I might have one in my strage unit...no quite sure though)
I'll post some engine pics later on.

Here is a pic I took to show how little sludge was in there...not too shabby for an unopened 100,000 mile old engine huh?I actually used the engine hoist to pull that intake off...I'll see if I can't find that pic later.
Time to get off my @ss and go to work out there.

No shop vac, and if I bring the little lady's sux-a-lux out there, I'd be a dead man walking.
I did however pick almost all of it out. Like any engine that has sat for more than a year, I am going to treat thid like a fresh rebuild. I'm going to put white lith grease on the cam lobes (from the top in the vally) and put some marval mystry oil on the push rods, and pre lube it too. Then when i fire it, and hold it at 1500- 2000 RPM for a few min, i will idle it for a couple and drain the oil and swap a new filter onto it. I think that'll flush the crap out.
As for the blue paint, it is mid 70's corp blue, the proper color for that engine.

I found this to be a great way to yank an intake...esp for this aplication.These intakes weigh like 30 pounds or something, and plus, the intake gasket is a reusable metal valy pan...asuming you ton't bend it when taking it apart.
I figured if I don't pry on it at a corner and pull it straight up, it'll save the steel valy pan gasket.
