New Truck(s) to bring home!!!

Hey all, haven't been around in a while. I recently grabbed up two good local trucks. First one came from a local junkyard, 86 2wd silverado completely rust free!!! with a blown motor. I got it for 500 bucks, which I thought was a real good deal for a rust free truck here in PA. I haven't gotten it home yet, my dad is good buddies with the junkyard owner, so am leaving it there until winter is over. I plan to take the cab and AC setup and stick it on my 77 stepper.

I just grabbed up a 77 454 camper special today for 2500 bucks. The guy that has owned it since new is moving to an assisted living place and needed to get rid of everything. Its got 7x,xxx original miles, completely original paint, and only one or two very minor dents. Not sure what I am going to do with this yet, but getting two rust free trucks in PA in the last month for these good deals was awesome. I just had to share with somebody!

I know you want pics, it was dark last night and I don't get it until over the weekend, so I will post up some pics then, and as for the 86, that is probably buried under some snow now, so maybe late march or early april I will get it home.

Thanks

Re: New Truck(s) to bring home!!!

if the 86 is rust free why not just throw a motor in it and sell it seems a shame to chop up a perfectly good truck for only a blown motor

Re: New Truck(s) to bring home!!!

Because my 77 needs rockers, cab corners, and some floor work, and the 86 has no rust, has power everything, ac, and tilt. I saw a cab last summar the carisle truck nationals for 900 bucks and almost bought it because it was rust free, and now I get what I want cheaper and in better shape then the one I was considering. I will probably sell off the rest of the truck at some point, but because I want the cab, I have to proceed. My uncle already got the fuel tank out of and the straps the other week to replace the leaking on in his plow truck, so I will use it as a primary parts truck for the time being until I get the stepper where I want it, then we will go from there. As for the camper special, that one just needs to sit in the garage for a while, thank goodness for 3 bays!

Nice that swap will be pretty involved if you want to keep the 77 front clip. Sounds like your gonna have two really nice trucks. Can't wait to see this other 77.

Re: New Truck(s) to bring home!!!

I'm moving on a similar deal this weekend... 1986 SWB with a running 305, 700R4, and a clean frame and bed to swap my '73 cab and front clip onto. I consider the $500 price tag a bargain since rust-free beds are so hard to come by in the northeast.

Is there a market for clean OEM 81-87 fenders and inner fenders? I've yet to find out what else I'll be able to salvage.

Re: New Truck(s) to bring home!!!

Well I was out of town all weekend, but my dad got the camper special. Its kind of a deal between us on that one, just not sure what we are going to do with it. It was a friend of my dads father who is 86 and is moving to an assisted living facility, and somebody offered him a thousand bucks for it, and my dad didn't want to see him get screwed, so he said its worth more then that. So that was when my dad said ill give you 2500 for it. So since I wasn't around all weekend and just got home an hour ago, my dad picked up the truck and put it inside at his bodyshop. It turns out its a trailering special? I don't know if anyone knows anything about these, but I certainly don't. I think my dad even managed to have the guy dig up the original window sticker on it. I'll snap some pics of it tomorrow night.

Hope your deal worked out blackstone.
