Re: installing speed warning buzzer

I'm not sure the factory assembly manual even gives a dimension and/or location. Most that I seen are inboard of the horn relay(toward the truck centerline) and IIRC on the horizontal surface of the cowl (inside of course). Play with it a little to find a good location where nothing hits it and the wires reach without tension.

There's not much room up there with all the stuff under the dash - column, brake rod, clutch, wiper motor, etc.

Re: installing speed warning buzzer

the speed warning buzzer is a buzzer for a speed warning speedometer. when you reach a set speed the buzzer goes off. it was an option on a 67 or 68 truck and other gm vehicles. here's a couple pics. one shows about where one was mounted, but i was wanting a more precise location. thanks, jake

Re: installing speed warning buzzer

BIGJAKE97 90% + of the speedwarning trucks I've owned had the buzzer within a few inches of where you placed the arrow in pic, all 5 of the trucks I currently own that are original speedwarning trucks have the buzzer in this location, and none are positioned in exactly the same spot as the others but are extremely close to the same location. So I myself think that it was a general area they posintioned them in. None are mounted to bare metal though, all 5 were screwed down to firewall on top of the glued on jute sound deadner and achieve there grounding through the screw used to mount them. 4 are to the right of electrical plug pictured next to arrow drawn, 1 is on left side of the plug, all are within 1 inch of the plug. Of the dozens I've removed in the past from trucks all but 1 was located where you've drawn arrow, and the 1 truck where it was located differently did not have the speedwarning listed on option sheet in the glove box, so I feel it was added by a previous owner.
