700R4 behind stock 6cyl questions

Im pulling a 700R4 to put in my 64 today. Going to have it beefed up a bit in the process. I want to put it behind my stock 1bbl 6cyl. Anyone done this? If so Id like to see pictures of your TV cable mated to the stock carb linkage. Just trying to get some ideas.

Thanks.
Kyle

Looks like Im going to have a make an arm to put on the stock linkage to 'extend' the stroke a bit. If you look at some of the kits this is what they do. Aparently theres not enough stroke to PULL the cable.

Go look at Bowtie Overdrives' site and see if you want to try and make a transmission killer out of your TV setup, seriously dude this is not something you can get wrong a couple of times and not cost yourself a lot of money and pain. they have a lot of different carb plates and might be able to help, I don't know about one bbl setup but I think they might have them for two bbl

They really dont offer THAT many carb plates. And if you know what you are trying to accomplish, have a GOOD tranny guru as a buddy, and a pressure gauge, it wont be that big of a deal.

Figured you guys might or might not be interested in this. Found this over at the HAMB.

Answer: hook trans cable thru firewall to gas pedal. If you don’t want to spend time engineering or want a pattern, go to local salvage yard and look for a 74 chevelle , olds cutlass with 350 trans these have factory kick down cables thru firewall hooked to gas pedal simply remove gas pedal assembly and cables, install in your car.
Interesting Idea.

Re: 700R4 behind stock 6cyl questions

why in the world would you stay with that junky 1 BB carb or the 2 bb carb

Boy you need to think out of the box Not half way why now use the offand houser 4 bb intake and just use the edalbrock 1406 carb 600 or 650 CFM carb its all set up and the 1bb is junk for saving gas the 1 and the 2 bb have bigger jets then the primaryes on a 4bb carb and man if you stand on it you will light that 250 or 292 up and really kick some butt aginst a 350 --396 eng the inline 6 has more Torq

Or you could run Tri power 3 2 bb carbs at 950 CFM's the 700R4 bolt right up and the intake the the 4bb has the holes for the TV cable i think if not drill the alum and have them welded in why now and the Intake is out of Alum

Re: 700R4 behind stock 6cyl questions

What I was thinking about was eventually running dual 1bb if and when I built the motor up. This thing is getting me back and forth from work right now while I put the new Vortec 5.3 in my Jeep. Once its on the road, the truck will be torn down and the front z'ed and possibly slapping in a 430 Buick Ive got laying in the barn. Im just trying to figure out how to slap this freshly rebuilt 700R4 in the truck to offset teh 4.10 gears and get a little better economy out of it. Cides, I like doing things everyone else dont/wont like doing.
