What did your truck cost & When did you buy it & Where?
In a recent thread the question was asked, "are these truck prices going up or down?" So I though it might be interesting to ask about your present truck whether it's a driver, in process of being fixed up, or sitting with the intention of being restored some day. The questions are:
1) When did you purchase your truck and purchase cost? 2) Where did you find your truck? 3) Year, model, and factory options on your truck? 4) How did you find your truck? 5) Condition of your truck (1-10). 1) Summer of 2001 $2700 It was in running condition but needed help. 2) Celina Tn. 3) 1970 CST 2x4 LWB...ac, buckets, tinted windows, 400 automatic, 402 BB, power steering, gage package w/tach, & Jr. west coast mirrors.. I have added a factory tilt, am/fm radio and soon a factory slider. 4) I found my truck through the Truck Trader. I was actually looking for a 48-54 Chevy 1/2 ton when I found my truck. I had been reading about the 67-72 Chevy trucks so I had a little knowledge about these trucks. I was the first to call about this truck and Mike (seller) said after I purchased the truck that he had over a dozen calls that first afternoon. 5) I would rate my truck about a 6. It needs a total restoration both in body and mechanics as this is an original truck that has not been fixed up. It has the usual rust in the bed but the cab and other areas are real good. Since it was from the south it didn't have all the rust issues we get from northern trucks due to salt.

Re: What did your truck cost & When did you buy it & Where?
1970 Custom 10
January 2007 $500 Scale of 1-10....5 you won't believe that from the pics...but for $150 I now have a running truck...it hasn't run in 15 years and runs better than my 2001 cummins now...amazing how well these trucks were put together...plus barely any rust...just drivers rocker panel...interior needs floor mat and dash pad...needs rest of fluids changed....tires...and possibly brakes...they work...but I haven't examined them closely... Options: hmmm what is an option....AM radio and cloth on vinyl seat Running Gear: 307, powerglide Found it through a friend Has 44,000 orginal miles on it and I have every receipt and service ticket on it from 1970...has the orginal tires on it from 1970...three still hold air...not the ones in the picture...those are the ones on it when I got there to pick the truck up...the orginals were sitting in the back of the truck...they are on there now...is that about all the info you need?? I think since it is running I could more than double my money when it gets rolling and becomes a daily driver I bet I could really make some money off it...but I don't think she'll be going anywhere....wanted one of these since I was a kid...and now I have one...its going back original also...gotta love the original

2. My grandpa's yard. (My uncle brought it up from SC and sold it to me) 3. 1967 C-10 stepside. Options: Deluxe heater and blue vinyl trim interior (yes, that's it.) 4. Couldn't miss it, I was at Grandpa's house a lot. 5. When I bought it: overall a 4 (but rust-wise I'd give it an 8). Now: 8

Re: What did your truck cost & When did you buy it & Where?
1. Febuary 21, 2007 for $2000
2.Lemoore, California. Bought it from a guy that lives a few blocks from me. been asking him to sell it since last October. 3. 1972 C-10 Shortbed, 355,TH350, PS,PB,Tach, CD/MP3 The guy had it just sitting there. I saw it when i was taking my kids trick or treating last October. He said he wouldnt sell it. So slowly i started asking him once a month or so. Couple weeks ago i saw that he had a brand new GMC Deisel Truck with the Allison Tranny in it. So i thought i would ask him if he would sell. FINALLY he broke! He said he needed the cash for some new tires and a lift for his new truck. I guess it was just timing for me ....or fate. I still feel like i stole it from the guy.

Re: What did your truck cost & When did you buy it & Where?
I bought my truck from a guy near baton rouge for $1400 in Oct. of 1998. It is a C-10 froom 1970. It has a 250 and three or the tree. The factory options were spartan. I found the truck in the newspaper. When I bought the truck it was a 4. The brakes were poor, the u joints were hanging on and the oil leak was Valdez like, on the rear main. I fixed the brakes and drove the truck for 3 years before I had some cash to work on it. It is still win progress but I will have it on the road this spring can't wait.

Re: What did your truck cost & When did you buy it & Where?
1) 1998. $650 with camper. Sold camper for $300 to neighbor.= $350 net.
2) Up in the local hills parked in yard, original owner had passed away. 3) See signature below. 4) Driving to a job saw it with sign. 5) I'd give it a 7 as a very well preserved original but the wood bed was rotted.

Re: What did your truck cost & When did you buy it & Where?
1) I purchased my truck in mid February for $150
2) I found it about 2 1/2 miles off the main highway. 3) 1972, GMC Sierra, and I guess Posi Trac, it has A/C. 4) I told my dad I was looking for a truck, he suggested our Insurance agent's secretary had the P/U for sale at what my dad thought to be $1000, we go to confirm, and the secretary's husband said he'd let it go for $150. We were astonished 5) I would say maybe 7. But i'll let you make the call |

Re: What did your truck cost & When did you buy it & Where?
1.) Early 2006 for 1500.00
2.) A friend took it as a down payment from his son-in-law on a tahoe. 3.) 1971 C10 short step, unsure of what was factory as it had been worked on alot before I got it but it has P/S, P/B, A/C, big window, 305(I know this wasn't factory), TH350. 4.) My buddy knew I was looking for a new project and offered it to me. 5.) 5 when I got it. It was a running driving truck with current tags and inspection. The front brakes didn't work well and there was a t-shirt stuffed in the rust hole in the drivers door to keep you from getting wet while driving in the rain. Now, I'd say 0 because it's torn into a million pieces and on it's way to a 10!

Re: What did your truck cost & When did you buy it & Where?
1) I bought the truck in December of 06, I bought it for $2500.
2,4) I was out at happy hour with some friends, started talking to this guy, he found out I was into cars and he mentioned that a friend of his was selling a "project" that he took in on a trade for some remodeling. Has moved out of state and needed to get it out of storage as he lost the lease. So I went and took a look at it and had it towed home (first car I ever bought that didn't run) 3) 67 C10 short bed. Had a 66 stepside bed when I bought it, not sure that was an option (nor did I know enough about the trucks at the time to know it was the wrong bed). Originally 6 cyl and 3 on the tree. No factory options at all except for the requisite rocker rust which I believe just came standard. 5) The overall condition was a 4 by looks only, but the body was strait (the bed being a 66, one 68 fender, rocker rust) the running gear was a 9, rebuilt 350, new intake, new carb, HEI, new 700R trans, new driveshaft, new power brakes, complete early classics 4/6 drop kit with vented rotors, complete front end rebuild kit, new quick ratio power steering box and pump, new sway bar, new core support and a new ratchet shifter for a 4sp auto..... but it needed most all of this stuff installed still as it didn't run. I still have yet to drive it. So yeah, I got a good deal.

Re: What did your truck cost & When did you buy it & Where?
Hell....I feel like I got robbed compared to what you all paid for yours!!
I paid $3800 for mine back in 90. This pic is about 2002 when I started taking it apart. I'm the second owner (on paper). I bought it from a friend on mine's son who only had the truck for a few months, didn't register it, and decided he didn't want it. The biggest selling point on the truck for me was that the paint was original and there was no rust at all.

Re: What did your truck cost & When did you buy it & Where?
1) Summer of '05 for $600 and drove it home.
2) Craig's List ad, 20 minutes after it was posted without picture. 3) '69 C-10 LWB with gauge cluster (no tach) 350 4speed posi, no power nothing 4) See 2 5) 4? Not sure what to rate it. It's mostly solid, ran and drove, horrible paint. The day I drove it home:

Re: What did your truck cost & When did you buy it & Where?
1) July 2003
2) Seattle, WA 3) 1970 C10, 2wd, LWB, 350/350, Power Steering 4) My parents were having a yard sale at one of my grandparent's houses and a guy pulled up in this truck. My dad asked him jokingly if he wanted to sell his truck and the guy replied, "As a matter of fact I have been thinking about it." So my dad got his number and took me to go look at it. The guy was asking $2,000 for it but after a few weeks of looking at it we talked him down to $1,200. Made a great high school graduation gift. 5) I would say that the current condition is about a 5 or a 6. It has rust in all the usuall places and needs paint. Since buying the truck, I have done some mild engine work and put dual exhaust on it. Hopefully this summer I will be able to start doing some body work on it. |

Re: What did your truck cost & When did you buy it & Where?
Mine was for sale In Autotrader for 2400. It had a freshly rebuilt 307 with a newish Edlebrock carb and intake. The rest was in original "work truck" condition. Looks like it even had a 5th wheel at one point during it's life. I would rate it at a 3-4. it has rust in all the usual spot and holes in the floor board. I called the guy and met him and test drove it looked it over and said to myself this is not worth $2400. So i offered the guy $1800, which was all I had. He said no and I went home. Well as i was walking in the door the phone rang and it was him. he was all "I spoke it over with my wife and we'll take $1900." I said "Deal." But you know it went down like this: Wife: "He offered you what!?!?!" "For that piece of junk and you didn't take it!?!?!" "You better get your ass on that phone and call him back and tell him you take it!!" Haha. Last edited by Zumo; 03-06-2007 at 12:24 PM. |

Re: What did your truck cost & When did you buy it & Where?
1) Jan 07, $800
2) Found it at my mother-in-law's apartment complex, owned by her neighbor downstairs. 3) 1971 LWB Custom Delux, factory AC, TH350, heavy rear springs. 4) I used to just talk trucks with my MiL's neighbor when i saw him outside. one day, he just up and offered it to me, since "i remember you said you always wished you had one..." 5) about a 4-5 probably. lots of rotten spots on the cab to patch, but overall, the body parts are predominatly straight, or minor flaws which will "buff out". the engine block is good, but i think the tranny is shot (i dont feel it ever shift out of 2nd). glove box says it was originally dark olive and white. intentions, are for a full frame off (after the red one is done being paid off, which is soon!)
