Headers for an LT1?

OK, I'm moving my LT1 to the 6 cyl position and ditching the stock 1972 exhaust manifolds. Does anyone know of a good header that will fit with little or no modification? The truck is lowered and now sports a 4L60E and 3.73 gears.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Headers for an LT1?

I only have a gen1 sbc in my truck, that is on 6 cyl mounts and I used headers for a 2nd gen. (70-81) Camaro . When I just had the frame, motor and trans.,but no cab or anything Else on the frame I checked the fit of my hooker truck headers and Camaro headers and liked the Camaro headers better. They did not drop below the frame and completely cleared the th400. I know that they will fit on a LT1 with no problem. Just to let you know I have been messing with a LT1 97 TransAm, it is now my drag car and I used hooker header starter kit to make headers for my turbo kit, the header hit was for a gen1 sbc and not meant for a LT1. So I don't think you will need headers meant for a LT1, if your worried about them leaking. I looked for pics of my engine and frame only, and could not find them.

ps. I would love to see that LT1 in your truck, that sounds cool.

Re: Headers for an LT1?

Thanks. I'm more worried about the shape of the ports matching up. The manifolds are way off.

I don't have a picture of the completed install. I'll resize the inprocess one I have and post it.

Re: Headers for an LT1?

I got mine from Sanderson's, they fit very nice I only had to notch the drivers side mount. Mine is slid back 2" as well and the motor is a 92 Vett LT1.
