Shop Pics
I been on this site reading and learning for 2 years or so, figured its time to post. Havent really been working on my truck, just keeping it running as i been swingin a hammer on the shop. I started building last June, and have been using my 68 GMC C20 a few times a week to haul goods. I designed the shop myself and dug and poured the footers last June. Did everthing myself except block, pouring floors, and the brick. The front is shop(grease) and rear is woodshop(sawdust).
Once its done, I plan on restoring the 68. Plans include rockers, cab corners, floor patches, no other rust in the doors or fenders. Been on the look out for a bed, as this one is hammered. Will add PS and PB, and hope to paint it as well. Truck was originally a delivery truck for a feed and coal supplier. Truck actually runs great, and has never given me any problems. It has a 307, granny gear 4wpd and 4.10 dana rear. Its all original, with power nothing and the original 2 barrel carb, single exhaust, points and all. Hope you like the picks. This site is great, and I learn a ton just from reading the posts. Bill |

Re: Shop Pics
I could live in that thing--with my 71! Looks like you need to be in the shop building business. The building is nice but that 4 wheeled thingy there adds character.

Re: Shop Pics
Only the best for a classic GM, eh? So listen Burner Bill, I've got a '69 C-20...I'm thinkin our trucks would keep each other company while being torn apart and brought back to new condition in your fantastic new shop...I'll even clean the place....please???
Really though, excellent job sir. Its alway a picker-upper to see somebody shedding blood, sweat, tears, and hard earned money on a new stable for the chev. One day, you will probly be able to sue me for copying your shop! Ok, I hope not... but then again if it means I get a shop of that caliber...

Re: Shop Pics
Man BurnerBrown,
Heck of a nice job on the shop, a whole lot classier than a steel pole barn like mine. That 3/4 ton GMC is a cool project too!! That IS one lucky truck to reside in a nice shop and if the quality of your carpentry reflects the work you will do on the GMC, she's really gonna a great resto. Later---DAC

Re: Shop Pics
Great looking shop! I would have went bigger.... but it's great. I have a huge pole barn with a wood burning stove and no insulation. I am sure you will be much more comfortable than me on cold nights working on the truck.

Re: Shop Pics
Thanks for the comments. I am siked to get it wrapped up and working on teh truck. THis is the first garage I've had, and I've never really done any work on an old rig, just keeping my cars alive is my wrenching experience.
Not going crazing with the inside, but will have a fridge full of beers...and dude across the street replaced his 10 year old heater for his house when he added an addition, so i will have heat for the cost of some duct work. And for size, I did add 2 feet to the garage and 2 feet to the woodshop when we were laying out the footers. figured now or never.. |
