There is one over by where I live. It is just East of Montpelier on State Road 18, that has quite a few left. Thats only about an hour away from Wabash.

Re: went junking today not many left

You gotta remember, since the price of scrap went up a couple years ago, big cars and trucks don't stay in the yards very long. plus, factor in that indiana and Illinois seem to have more rust than any other states... and these things weren't exactly built to last 40 years in the salt, it's a wonder there's any in the junk yard that hasn't disolved and returned to mother earth.
Really it kinda sucks IMO.

You guys don't know how good you have it..."only a couple 67-72's".... Down here in my area, there are NO yards that have anything older than maybe 20 years...

I'd love to hit a yard, and be able to scavange 67-72 parts...

Re: went junking today not many left

don't feel too bad. There's two junk yards in town, the one I work at (yay, I work at a junk yard! shwang!) covers mostly older stuff, and the other junk yard in town mostly covers new stuff... well, the new stuffed one used to have whole rows of older stuff; pre 80's Fords, Chevys, etc... there was a whole row of maybe a dozen 67-72's, not too terribly much left on them, a lot of bare pickings... but they were still there... then, towards the end of the summer of 06, they crushed all the 67-72's, most of the old Fords, and a whole lot of other cool stuff. Made me mad, a "crushing" end to my obsessively loved trucks.

But the good news is, the junk yard I work at still has lots of 67-72 parts, except for tach dashes, I guess a few years ago somebody came through and bought every tach dash we had, from out of state. PLenty of decent/good doors, fenders, dashes, etc. left.

Re: went junking today not many left

The Junk yards out here are getting thin with our trucks as well. It is more of a deal to just by a donor. Junking is good and I wish you and your son many fun, happy ours junking. It is my favorite thing to do.
Respectfully

I went this past weekend. Plenty of old Fords, not a Chevy in sight.

Re: went junking today not many left

Check out this site:

Here in Nashville we have a scrap yard that rotates its heaps about every three months. It's called Pull-a-Part. Nice layout and I know they are not only in Nashville. They post on the web what they have in stock so you can go yarding from office chair!

http://www.pullapart.com/

Hope this helps
