Anyone else running a 327?

I was wondering what you have done to boost the hp? Mine is still stock, and I want to get some ideas how to juice it up a bit without breaking the bank.

Re: Anyone else running a 327?

I got a 327ci punched .060 out so its a 336ci. All 327s come with Forged Cranks , I threw on KB pistons domed to hell, Eagle Rods, 64cc World Products S/R Torquer heads, HUGE Comp Cam Magnum Cam, Roller Rockers, 600cfm Holley carb, long tubes. The engine was balanced and I blueprinted it myself. I desktop dyno'd it at around 410hp around 6800.

PS Truck revs to the moon, i had it up to 7k before without it missing a beat, pulls hard as hell around 3800 to 6000.

Did the 327s from 68 with a large journal come with a forged crank? How could you tell? I do have a 327 that is sitting on a engine stand begging for attention

327's like to rev so get a cam and manifold that allow this.

Yeah man they all came with forged cranks, I got the large journal which is a 350 main size. The 1st ones came with small journals. I got a lot of work done to mine.

I'm not sure if they all did but my 68 327 3/4 ton had a forged large journal. Look at the parting line on the counter weights if the parting line is wide and flat it is forged. If it's a narrow peak then it's most likely cast. You can also tell by the way the crank sounds, if it rings when you tap on it it's most likely forged the cast cranks will have a lower pitched sound. Hope this helps.

Re: Anyone else running a 327?

You can also tell by the color. Steely gray= steel, rusty brown= cast

Re: Anyone else running a 327?

cam, roller tip rockers, intake, carb and headers, would be a good start without breaking the bank. after that maybe some heads and bottom end work. 327's rule!!

Never had a 327ci. Depends on how you plan to drive it but revy motors love gears.

Re: Anyone else running a 327?

My 68 327 is a cast crank. So no they're not all forged.
