what kit to get - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I am looking to reinstall the front end but am looking at rebuild kits, LMC has a good kit, would like some suggestions before I buy. Also does any one know how wide of a tire can I put on a step side with a 4/6 drop.

i have 295/50 on 15x10 in rims it is not tubbed and the tires are in the wheel well not sticking out

I want to put 15 x 10's on the rear but am thinking about 245's

I got my front-end rebuild kit from Early Classic Enterprises (www.earlyclassic.com). Call their number and ask for Stan. Tell them Corey is doing some advertising for them!

Seriously, they carry Moog parts. Very goot stuff, and they custom build kits for you if you don't want everything. They may be a tad bit more expensive but they're a good technical resource too.

Ya I got my drop kit from them they are great to deal with, just looking to save a few bucks ( but not scremp on quality ).

Do yourself a favor and check out the Poly Graphite bushings = less deflection. If your not looking to reduce deflection just use Rubber bushings. As far as tie rods and balljoints, sometimes there really is negligable differences between the house brand and some "Name" part. Research research reasearch, did I say research, pricings and differnent levels of quality pieces before spending your hard earned bucks. Sometimes the regular Chain parts house down the block has all the pieces you need for a bargain price. They sell more volume and many times are cheaper. Good Luck.

We lowered our price on WESTERN 2 1/2" direct bolt in drop spindles, and lowered the shipping cost on our progressive rate lifetime warranty drop coils.

PST poly graphite are JUNK!!

I had them on my firebird for only for 7 years in december and they are already cracking and busting up. Email me if you want pictures.

I'll have to disagree about P-S-T offering poor quality bushings. I have their front-end rebuild kit, and am very happy with it. In fact, my friend's 94' Z28 has their kit as well. The right lower balljoint had a crack in the boot after 5-years of use. He called them w/o an original receipt, but they still sent him FOUR NEW balljoints for free. IMO, that is great customer service. They warranty their products for 20-years and it's a "No Questions Asked" deal. I would also recommend Pro-Thane.

P.S.-You also should take in to consideration that any bushing will crack if exposed to harsh conditions---Road salt, extreme cold, and etc. after a few years.

I did a review on PST a few months ago when I was looking to buy a front-end rebuild kit for my '69. Their poly bushings may be good, but they wouldn't give me any details about who made their front-end parts. They also made an order for me that had everything I needed, but when I went to buy later from them they told me that 1/2 of the stuff on the oroder they didn't provide. Really made me mad. I wasted a lot of time with them on the phone. Time is money.

That's why I went with ECE. Even though they didn't have some 3/4 ton parts in stock they made me an order by itemizing the parts from Moog. They carry mostly Energy Suspension Systems poly bushings. So far I'm happy as hell.

LMC's kit is very complete, I think there useing TRW parts, which are good but there not MOOG. There is a big differance between the 2. I've been using Energy Suspentions stuff and have very good results from them. See my post on TRW vs Moog

I couldn't agree more. Moog made substantial parts that will last. I wanted this front-end to last for a long time. That's why I went with ECE. Even some of the stock parts weren't made as well as the Moog parts I ordered.
