horse power

in a rough estimate,, how many horses would i be putting out? i have a gen 5 454 with a performer 2-0 mani and a 750 carb from addie as well. i have the stock cam and thats it. i just wanted to know how many horses would i be putting out around. thanx a lort. here is a pic just for the $hit and giggles.

I would guess 350 to 375hp. Just my guess.

It depends a lot on the compression ratio. I'd guess that with the Gen 5 454 you're around 9.0:1 or less in C/R. If the exhaust is stock manifold duals, then I'd agree, probably not over 375 HP. If it's got the peanut port heads it'd probably be 350 HP or less, (which still isn't bad, but could be FAR better with a decent set of heads and a decent compression ratio).

BTW, good choice on the carb and manifold.

The 454 in my '94 'burb has a whopping 230 hp, and a massive, toothpick-pulling 385 lb-ft of torque from the factory. Its kinda sad, the 383 in my '69 C-20 has near 2.2 TIMES the hp...and gets twice the mpg...
