Flat black LWB pics?
Does anyone have pictures of a 1967-68 long box lowered and flat back. I just got a 67 Chevy long box 2wd from a friend and it's kinda rough. I was thinking flat black and on the ground with air bags in the rear in case I wanted to tow a trailer with it. It's a V8 with a four speed and it runs pretty good but needs a lot of work. I'm new to the site but I will post pics when I get them. Thanks.

Re: Flat black LWB pics?
I would recomend Rustolium, for cost, durability, and ease of aplication. Here's how I did mine, and plenty of advice on what to do to make it better. It's a long thread, but good reading.
Also, i wouldn't go with flat black... real PITA to keep clean, and most total flat paints absorb water, and dirt. I went with a semi gloss. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=214871 Welcome to the board from central Ohio. |

Re: Flat black LWB pics?
Thanks guys, I didn't think about semi-gloss. That sounds like a better way to go.

Re: Flat black LWB pics?
It's decent. No where near real paint, but WAY better than primer.
Better prep and automotive thiners and the like woulda probably made it 10 times better. |

Re: Flat black LWB pics?
I will be using John Deere Blitz Black this spring. It's a semi gloss that seems to be very popular with old school hotroders. It's cheap, durable (it's tractor paint) and available.
This is bad rattle can right now.

Re: Flat black LWB pics?
From what I've used rustoleum it seems to stick ok, but usually my prep work is little to none, and the paint is usually straight from the can . I bet with some thinner and a little hardener, Rustoleum would make a real nice looking, fairly cheap paint job.

Re: Flat black LWB pics?
here is my 72 in black primer, now lowered too much though and also a really bad photochop of my 72.
It was a pretty sorry job the shop did shooting on the primer, I'm not going there again.

Re: Flat black LWB pics?
PM sent, that is a bad ass lookin longhorn. What's the wheels, what's the drop, whats the details. I have considered relocating the spring hangers, thought about shackles.. .but don't care for either idea.

Re: Flat black LWB pics?
It has a 3 inch coil drop in the front, coils from CPP in Orange CA, The rear has custom made leafsprings with a built in 5" drop made by performance onlie, Fullerton CA with drop shackes to get it a little lower . It almost sits level but not quite , the ride quality is really good I want to eventually put in on air bags an lay frame. Has a tried 350 in it that will be next to get fixed. I'll post some before and after pics. This is a 8 lug C30 with Ultra Blade wheels running 18. The paint is from hot rod Flatz , a flat black.
