Re: 6/8 drop

I run my stuff low, but in my opinion, that's too low for a static drop. You'll be knocking your lower control arms into everything.

Re: 6/8 drop

ECE does not recomend anything lower than a 4/6 without air suspension. If you want to go that low you my want to C notch and bag it.

Re: 6/8 drop

Anything lower than 6 in the rear and you will have to have some type of frame notch and most likely have to do something with the bed floor to keep the rear end from hammering it.

Up front 4 possibly 5 inches with a static drop using the stock type suspension. The only way I know to get 6/8 without bags would be a 2 inch body drop and a 4/6 static drop. Im not sure what kind of tire clearance issues you might run into if you dropped the front 6 inches.

I agree! Iwas checking out my truck (low buck) tonight and with a flip in the rear of 6-7" I will only have about 2" untill contact with the frame. I will be doing about a 2"+ notch. The front will be 2.5" spindles and 2" springs. That I feel is the best set up for a static drop. Now my other truck (slow build) has a 2" body drop and bags that give it a total of about 11-13" drop, Here's a pic.

Re: 6/8 drop

My '71 Cheyenne was my daily driver for about 7 years. I ran 2 1/2" dropped spindles, 3" dropped springs and 26" tall tires (total drop was about 7"). Never again. My headers were about 3" off the blacktop. Jacking that thing up and crawling under it with a torch and a bfh every Saturday got old real quick. My a-arms were so close to the blacktop i couldn't fit an upright pack of Marlboros under them. It didn't take very long to waste 'em both. The front tires would rub hard at full lock on a moderatly step driveway. The back was down about 5" using clamped Chevell wagon springs. Enough to make it sit on the trimmed down bump stops. It was a cop magnet. Never again. Next time i'll bag it and do a c-notch.

I finally jerked the 3" springs and replaced 'em with the stock springs. I trimmed 'em up just enough to give it a 1" drop. I removed the clamps from the rear springs. Didn't look as cool but it sure was a lot easier to drive.

If it's just a weekend cruiser you could get by with a static drop, but for a daily driver it will get old real quick. Save yourself a lot of grief, bag it and notch it.

Re: 6/8 drop

I think 3" springs + 3" spindles in the front with stiff shocks and 6" springs + 2" blocks + CPP notch in the back would be *****in! I almost wish I didn;t cut up the back of my truck and done this instead of airbags and stuff...

Re: 6/8 drop

Hey i went thru all my old receipts today, sorry the c notch is a mcgauphys it it cost me bout 60 bucks for the bolt in on and then i welded around it also.

The 6/7 drop rides fine. a little siff, and it isnt not lincoln but i mean none of these old trucks are. i used to have a 88 iroc camaro it rides about the same. no bottoming out problems either.

Re: 6/8 drop

here is my truck before and i wanted it lower

so i went 5 inch springs with 3 inch blocks in the back and custom c notch

and 21/2 inch drop spindles with 3 inch spring in the front.

so now i got your hopes up and no i havent put the bed or the front clip back on yet but it will be soon however, my lower control arms are plenty high from the ground in the front and rear of the truck and i am going to run my exhaust though the crossmenber which i cut 4 inch holes in and the only thing i might catch on some things is my longtubes but i think im going to swap them to a mid.
