truck stuck in the mud
Hey guys I took my truck out to my 10 acres today to see if the county had installed my drive yet and I buried my truck. I just got the tranny rebuilt and I was already being hard on it.. I finally just had to leave it before I tore something up... I should of known better when I had to put in 4 wheel drive just to get through the ditch.. (its like 2 in. deep and full of grass) Now I'm not sure what to do the tires are bald I was waiting for next month's pay check to buy new tires for it.
So how should I get it out???

Re: truck stuck in the mud
I'll take pics tomorrow.. It doesn't really look that bad but the tires are just crap... The only buddy I got here close to Moberly that has a 4x4 has a brand new mitsubishi raider (not sure it could pull me out) and he doesn't want to get any mud on his precious truck.. I do have a tractor I guess I'll try pulling it out with that.. its only 2wd though..
Using a 2x12x16' I managed to move it about 20 ft... Any of you guys live close to Moberly?? Wanna be my bud?

Re: truck stuck in the mud
Dont underestimate the power of a tractor... They'll pull until they dig out, better take a buddy with you to steer the truck out... or a pretty girl that likes to get dirty

Re: truck stuck in the mud
If the mud is not deep, then regular asphalt singles will help a lot. Just drop a few in front of the tires and leter rip! good luck.

Re: truck stuck in the mud
thanks for the suggestions guys.. I think I'll try the shingles and the tractor at the same time.. Don't want to waste anytime.. I was going to wash it tomorrow anyway and clean up the rallies and give them a fresh coat of paint so when I get some new tires it looks better.

Re: truck stuck in the mud
I personally have never used shingles, but I dont see where they would be any help. Anything i usually try to put under the tires, it usually just gets shot out of the back, dont see where shingles would be any different... Got any better tires on your blazer you and go throw a set on the rear? To get yourself outta the mess?

Re: truck stuck in the mud
I demand pics
Get a buddy to come down in his truck and tie a rope or chains to your tow hooks and get drugged out. I never had any luck trying to weigh down the rearend on my truck. I dunno HOW deep you got it but I got mine out of some decent soft mud with me pushing and my sister giving it the gas. No matter what you're gonna need some friends.

Re: truck stuck in the mud
I just done that today my friend went to his back lot were the mud was deep and sunk to his axles. he come and got me and i took the blazer over a pulled him out and then played awhile his back lot is preaty tore up now LOL!! If i lived closer id be there in a minute to help. It would be a 4 hour drive for me one way.
If you have holes in you rims you could lase a chain throu and around your tire do that on both back wheels and you would just drive right out. Ed Last edited by CrashEd; 03-10-2007 at 01:26 AM. |

Re: truck stuck in the mud
well I finally got out.. Sorry the pics are so blurry... Thats my $500 truck though. How are you supposed to shift into 4 low.. I put the truck in Neutral and went from 4 high and tried to go to low hear nothing but grinding. I then tried putting the tranny i park and stuff was grinding so I shifted back to neutral and shut the truck off.. It then went into 4 low and when I started it it worked fine.. surely your not supposed to have to shut it off to put it in 4 low..
the clean pics are from after the car wash.

Re: truck stuck in the mud
It'll probably hold 33"s with little work...maybe just another leef in the front.

Re: truck stuck in the mud
i see mentions of chains and ropes... bad idea, especially on the chains. get yourself a good quality snatch strap or two if you're going to be playing with it, your truck will thank you, and you'll be a whole lot safer.

Re: truck stuck in the mud
Nitto Terra Grappler tires would be nice. Fine for dirt road work and light off-roading, yet designed well enough for daily driving and highway travel without sounding like a swarm of bumble bees.

Re: truck stuck in the mud
I am going to put 33's on my 87 after 4 inches of lift. It has 31's now and they do not rub and my truck is factory. I would also get a pretty aggressive tire like a bfg mud terrain or something there abouts. Glad to see you got it out and thats also a damn good ride for 500, I have about the same thing and it cost me 1200.

Re: truck stuck in the mud
i'd put 31X10.50's on it...and i'm sorry but if you got stuck in that.....WOW! i've been in mud up over the lower door trim with mine and still not had any issues....
as far as shifting to 4low....what i usually do is put the truck in park and put my foot on the brake pedal which stops the chance of any movement from either the tranny or the drive train and then shift in or out of 4 low....sometimes if it doesn't go you gotta shift from park to reverse and then back to park....but don't move the transfer case from 4low or 4 high untill you are back in park with your foot on the brakes
