ohm help

I am electical handicaped if I want to check if a wire is good from one end to the other I can use my multimeter on ohms correct? So I set it on 200 and touch both ends it buzzes and reads .3 is that good?

Thats good. Try touching your leads together it will probably read .3 ohms also

if u want to get a better reading of a wire and its conductivity, put your meter in the DC voltage setting and put each lead on each side of the wire with current flowing through, if it gives u more than .2v then u need to replace it. this is referred to as a voltage drop test and MUCH more effective than a resistance test.

My meter does not have that setting I dont think not very high dollar.

general rule of thumb; when doing a voltage drop test you should not have more than .2V drop for each connection. (this is why crimp connectors are bad and soldering is best.)

and on the crimp connectors/butt splices, as long as they are not exposed to the elements, they would be find to use...other wise just use good ol' heatshrink
