I don't carry a spare, but I guess you would just have to chunk it in the bed

Re: Where is your spare

I'm not sure where mine will be. Trying to come up with some clever way to carry it in the back where it will be secure and not screw up the new wood bed. Thought about fabricating a mount through the bed that could be removed when the truck isn't on a road trip.

Re: Where is your spare

Mine hangs over the seat belt most of the time.
(I can't believe i am the 20th post on here, and the first one to say that)
I carry a spare about 50% of the time, and when I do, it just gets tossed in the back. Here in the rust belt, it's a bad idea to keep it underneath the bed, the salt gets it and it turns to crap in a couple years.

Re: Where is your spare

Good question.. I do not carry one now and am thinking when I get my fuel tank out of the cab and redo behind the seat I'm gonna see if I can get one of those factory donut temporary spares with the right height and bolt pattern and mount it there.. I'm thinking I will finish the inside of the back of the cab with a carpet covered piece of wood or something lighter and as strong and have it removable so I can keep the spare out of view but have it when needed especially on along road trip. l

Re: Where is your spare

My wife said the only times she sees my truck running is when it's behind the tow truck.
Some day I hope to have use for a spare.

Re: Where is your spare

a spare from an astro van will fit a 5 lug truck. Dunno if they had a space saver or not though.

Re: Where is your spare

I'm a motorcycle guy by nature, and we don't have spares, so I carry one of those 15 dollar air compressors that plug into the cig lighter and a plug kit for the tires. As for finding the leak.... If you made it to the gas station, they have 20 ounce bottles of water and hand soap in the bathroom. Add the tire reaming tool and some heat from a Zippo on the bottle cap, and boom, you gotta perfectly good leak diagnosis machine.

OH, and a disclaimer.... Is it safe? Nope, its a temporary fix for a crappy problem, unlike a .45 auto, which is a more permanent fix for a temporary problem.

Re: Where is your spare

Since when are plugs not safe?
If you throw out a tire just becouse it has a plug in it... You can throw them my way.
