Request for side pics of my truck
A dozen or so members wanted to see a side shot of my truck for tire size, fronts are 235/60 (need to go taller) and rears are 285/70. These fill the wheelwell nicely, 31 inches tall. The drivers door got dinged, company security gate, still fighting on that one

Thank you everyone! That's my 70 Chevelle under the tarp, and the GTO in the driveway The tires are BFG's, and the wheels are custom made 5x5 Vette' rallys. Painted same color of the truck, thin 'hot rod' trim rings with Chevy domed caps. Budget at it's finest, I don't think I have more that $250 in those wheels but I did get a good deal on the wheels themselves used The color is green, it's a factory color off of a VW Passat, fresco green it's called. The paint job was done in my garage a few years ago.

Re: Request for side pics of my truck
That is a nice total package. Tire/wheel combo matches the color & the stance matches the rest of it. Nice truck for sure. I need to get a set of mirrors like that for my 69.

Re: Request for side pics of my truck
This was a hard decision for me to make, with all of the choices out there but the stock round mirrors won out. I was going to go with aluminum aftermarket mirrors, but they would look out of place with nothing else billet on the truck. I can't afford aluminum matching 17" wheels for it yet, so I decided to stay with the stock look for now. I would like for one day to bolt on 17's, like Boyd/Colorado custom/intro etc but the Chevelle get's those first

Re: Request for side pics of my truck
How do you like the GTO? I've been kind of sniffing around one for a little while but I'd be interested in a first hand opinion.

One rearend, completely blew one day, locked up and had to be towed. I was not abusing it beyond it's design. Warranty covered. Back seat leather (splitting at seams) Warranty covered. Alignment issue that ruined 4 tires and warranty will not cover, they say by the time they dicovered it, I was out of my 7500mi cap for this issue. So, I am out an alignment and 4 tires which is $$ Stero kinda sucks, but I compare it to the bose in the SSEi so you wil have to be the judge on that one yourself. Good: blast to drive everyday, 400hp and a 6 speed manual=fun. It will blow the rear tires off at will in first gear and slide pretty much through second when it's cool out, warm it will hook in second gear. All with a luxury car idle. Decent gas mileage, 25 on the freeway ain't too shabby for this engine. Comfy and very well put together, no rattles and tight as the day I bought it (28K on it now) Seats are second to none, nice stuff. Kind of bland/white wrapper in the looks department, but that keeps the fuzz at bay most times. Not that I need that The looks grow in you as time passes though, it's a decent design. Advise? Go drive one, you will see what the quiet hype is about. It feels very refined and solid, very BMWish. Plus the speed/power, it's a nice package. To check out a GTO forum www.ls1gto.com

Re: Request for side pics of my truck
Great feedback. Thanks for that.
I kind of like the fact that it has stealthy looks - i have a couple of friends who think its a little bland but having an Ls motor 'under wraps' appeals to me no end. I've got a bunch of PTO coming my way soon so i think ill go give one a test drive. -Andy |
