Fuel line pump to carb

I was changing the fuel line going from the pump to the carbI had it off and gass came out the line.Which i know it should.But it was also coming out the pump.Should this happen,will it drain my gas tank,Is there a way to stop it.I put the line back on for now

Just stick something in or over the line to plug it till you get your new line installed

It prolly would drain your tank, & mine does the same thing
