Lower Radiator Hose
On my 68 3/4 2wd 327ci the lower radiator hose is rubbing on the frame. What causes this and what do I need to replace to correct it?

does the lower rad neck have a sharp upward curve ? do you have later model long neck water pump or correct short neck water pump ? is the truck originally V-8 truck ?

I've done the same thing as DR did.
Oh...BTW, I've heard of a 70 1/2 Camaro, and a 64 1/2 mustang, but I've never heard of a 68 3/4 truck. (Sorry - couldn't resist that one!)

Sounds like the lower radiator neck is not the curved one.

Another guess is the hose. When you go to the parts store they give you a hose that might fit several vehicles, or it isn't quite like the factory one was. On all the hoses I can remember putting on, I have always trimmed about 1-2" of length off at the water pump end. That would pull the hose away from the frame.
Otherwise I have done the double up the hose at the rub spot too. ------------------ 1971 C-10 Suburban 1972 C-10 Suburban 1969 XL Galaxie Fastback 1968 Galaxie 500 Fastback 1974 SCOUT II Montrose, Minnesota

Dan,
I know exactly what you are rtalking about! I just went through this problem also. NAPA sold me a lower hose that seems to rub too much on the frame. So a few days later when I was at NAPA, I asked about it. They said that I had the correct hose recomended by the factory. HOWEVER! He said, go see how this fits (he handed me a lower hose for a 75 Chevy). I went out and held it in place. A PERFECT FIT!! Sooooo, now i have a 1975 Upper AND Lower Radiator hose! They fit 100 times better. My truck has the original 327, a short waterpump and original radiator. The hose is one from NAPA that I had to trim (per instuctions). Guess I'll try the 75 hose thanks.
