Which Holley?
I am looking at putting a new carb on my 383 stroker. The edelbrock 650 isnt delivering enough fuel on the top end. What are your guys opinions on the Holley Street Avenger 770. Pros-Cons? Any other opinions will be much appreciated. Thanks for the help.

My intention also, but mine will be for off road use, which means a smoooooth idle and plenty of area under the torque curve, vs. high peak HP. So for me, a 650 quadra-jet is the answer. Some places do sell tuned-up q-jets, and a 750 is available.
Holley isn't worth crap off road, unless you like to alternate between flooding and starving, and enjoy keeping a screwdriver (or allen/torx wrench) in your pocket for those fun emergency tuneups.

What are your determing factors to let you know your 650 edl. is not delivering enough at the top end.

I will let you know in a couple of weeks. I bought the 770 avenger and hope to have it installed and going soon.

how much RPM are you looking at in the top end ? If its starving for fuel...thats not really a carb cfm issue. Does Edelbrock even make a 650 CFM carb ? anyway 650 cfm should support up to 5500 RPMs on a 383...maybe a lil more.

just for reference, the Edelbrock 1406 is a 600cfm, but the Edelbrock thunder AVS series comes in a 650cfm, & an 800 cfm.

it could be a 600cfm carb. It is the edelbrock carb and intake that originally came on the truck. I did the rebuild and figured that combination would be sufficient.
