Does anyone know if I can put a 67-69 heater assembly on a 72??

I started my rat rod engine swap this weekend. I gutted all my a/c components to clean up engine bay and make more room for the 454. Now I need a heater core without a/c and the different inner air box. I know that 67-69 had a metal box and 70 -72 had plastic, but are the firewalls the same?
Any suggestions would be great!!

I think the fire walls are the same

Well, maybe I should ask this too. Is the firewall diff. on a blazer with a/c versus the firewall without a/c?

Yes an AC firewall is different, heater core holes and box are off. If you search some AC threads someone posted a pic of one and took a red marker and drew in the others. to show what over laps and what doesn't

I say smooth the firewall & do this. I know this is on a later model truck, & he's doing a whole other project on his truck, but I'm referring to using the heatercraft style heater box. Look for my name a few posts later for my experience with it in my TJ. It works great!

Well, I've been at a stand still for a week. I had to go to St. Louis for work. Gotta chase the dollar bill when ya can.

I like the looks of that heater box BUDDY, I'll definately keep that in mind. I haven't decided if I'm going to fab up the original to down size it or go your route. I'm headed out to the garage now to take some pics for Herb.
