Project "Texas Pete" has begun...
Well I started my build, or should I say the destuction. I will be doing a 3/5drop, with 88-98 six lug disk brakes and 2" drop spindles. I will be going with a semi-flat black for the paint, with 15" rallies and wide whites. I have McGughys springs and spindles, eveything else is from ece, Track bar kit shocks and relocating brackets, body mounts, and bushings, as well as a van tilt column so far.
Body mods will include Shaved side markers, hood emblems, cowl, antenna, and gas tank relocated under the bed. The truck is getting a frame off and the chassiss will be getting treated with POR 15 in semi glosss black. As far the project I named it after my brother Pete who gave mme the truck, he is not in very good health and I hope to have it done before he isn't around anymore, and where he purchased the truck and lived for years. Its a bit of a dedication. Here are some pics of what I started with, I already removed the grill and shaved the hood emblems. Enjoy Last edited by bigo181979; 03-13-2007 at 12:59 AM. |

Re: Project "Texas Pete" has begun...
It has rust in the usuall places, drivers rocker is pretty bad, the front pockets in the front fenders have holes rusted thru, cab corners have some really small holes, the floor boards are good accept one spot on the drivers side, the 2 front body mount supports need to be replaced, and the lower part of the bed behind the wheels have a litlle bit of cancer.
Its sounds like a lot when you start writeing it all down, but most of it can be fixed with small patch panels I believe. I will just have to see what I am left with after I start cleaning it up. |

I'll be watching Texas pete's rebuild, and hope your brother is well enough to go on the maiden finished ride. Best of luck with everything.

Re: Project "Texas Pete" has begun...
I think I am going to keep the efi setup. I like the idea of a little better gas mileage since I will probably be driveing it a lot.
It also comes with the headers but I am not sure what they fit, or if they will work in my truck? I guess its nothing a litlle cutting and welding can't fix though. Last edited by bigo181979; 03-14-2007 at 09:07 AM. |

Re: Project "Texas Pete" has begun...
Well its been a good week. I got quite a bit of work done.
Now as soon as I get the plans in from LDF on the cab dolly and 1-man bed lift and get that built i will take the cab and bed off the frame. Then the frame will be off to get media blasted. Oh I also did some electrical work in the garage and ran a 220 line so I can run a welder. Lastly it looks like the frame on my door is bent. It lines up everywhere but the bottom corner, the PO had hit something so I guess I am going to have to find a new door unless some one has an idea. |
