if anyone is interested i have a 396 BB out of a early 70's truck i believe. has been bored to a 402. ready to drop in. i was told that these were rare. are they?

If it`s built after`69 it`s a 402 from factory.They aren`t really rare,but sought after for originality.They aren`t made anymore,like 396,265,283,327...
Price?Condition?Out of truck?Original/rebuilt?Miles?

If it`s from a`70 or newer it was built as a 402 from factory.

I had one given to me (included with the truck), it's a 70 but has a 396 (70 seems to be the yr that had either a 396 or 402).

sorry guys.
it is a 402. was in a 71 chevy longhorn. this was the last year for the longhorn, and they only built 300 of them, so im told, from the guy i bought it from. motor does not smoke one bit. i had trouble with my digital camera, dangit, i will get pics loaded for you guys tomorrow evening. the only thing this motor will need is a set of headers or the stock manifolds.
i do have this posted on other forums, so who ever comes up with the money for it first wins.
will ship if needed. to your expense.

will take $900 obo.

71 wasn't the last year of the longhorn nor the 402, They made 4810 Longhorns that year. There are no records that will say how many went in what model truck.

sorry for the misunderstanding, longhorn. i know it wasn't the last year for the 402, but i was told it was the last year for the longhorn truck

here are pics of the motor. the carb is gone. i had the motor over at my buddies and he took the carb off and put it on his 454.

price now is $800

They also made the longhorns in 72'. Thats the last year that I know of. I'm sure if They made them later Andy will correct me.
