power locks

i bought some actuators from this store going out of business, and they gave me the most powerpul actuators they had for 40 bucks, and i installed one, and it wasn't powerful enough to push or pull my heavy lock rod. i returned the one i didn't install, and the guy at o reilys said i might have to use 2 per door. well too late i returned one.

where do you guys get your actuators or what method did you use?

Re: power locks

You have to use a solenoid. You can get them with a 40 to 50 lb pull. Check on ebay or from autoloc or chassis tech.

Re: power locks

I am using a door lock kit from these guys ( http://www.a1electric.com/mes.htm )
in conjuction with a DEI Rattler Remote Keyless/Alarm setup. It works like a charm. It's just an actuator.

Re: power locks

the stupid idiots at audio depot here.. a pretty nice shop tried to sell me linear actuators, door poppers, shaved door handle kits, i got tired of their bs. they said they didn't have 2 way solenoids, and i went ahead and wired up 2 actuators from them on one door, both 11 lb. actuators, didn't work any better.

any more advice from the experienced?
