67 rear coil removal?
okay, sorry if this is a repeat but I looked in arcives and couldnt find a straight answer.
replacing rear coils in my 67 this weekend with a 3 inch drop coil. How would i go about this? I have spring compressers.. will I need them. I am trying to save my teeth and do this safely. thanks. a good link or directions would be great thanks Jeff |

just jack the rear of the truck up, put it on jack stands about 12" behind the trailing arm X member, and let the rear end hang. But, leave the jack under the pumpkin with just enough pressure to hold it up... then remove the bolt on the bottom of the trailing arm.
should have no concerns there. if the bolts are tough, you can alway cut the spring with the torch, then torch the bolts out. |

No Compressor Needed.put The Frame On Jack Stands And The Jack Under The Side Your Working On Undo The Shock First Then The Spring

oh yeah, forgot the shock part
 also make sure the brake line is long enough. you may need to disconnect it.

Thanks guys that is pretty much what I pictured I had to do. I never even thought about the bolts being stuck in the trailing arms. Judging by the condition of the top bolts through the frame (threads rusted ..off look in the shape of hourglasses) I feel I am getting ready to do torch work. thanks again

are you also installing an adjustable panhard bar so you can center the axel??

*** beware of the brake line and the wiring harness when u fire up the torch.
i just had to torch mine off...... i didnt have to touch the shocks..

I agree, no compressor needed for the rear coils.
That job is no where as threatening as the fronts  ECE recommends an adustable panhard bar when you drop the rear four inches, three should be fine
